Allegiant Electric Founders’ Story

Allegiant Electric started around owners Anthony and Andrea Vigil’s breakfast table in 2015. With Andrea’s experience as chief operating officer at American Patriot Solar Company and Anthony’s as a master electrician and member of IBEW 357, starting a business after Nevada’s net metering legislation was a natural career progression for the Vigils.

Inspired by a close family friend who encouraged the couple to work with him, the company started with two service trucks. Soon, Allegiant Electric outgrew working from the Vigils’ home, and the company officially moved into an office space—one that they have already outgrown.

Allegiant Electric is a certified Woman-Owned Small Business (WBE), Minority Business Enterprise (MBE), Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE), Small Business Enterprise (SBE), Nevada local Emerging Small Business (ESB), and non-union firm based in Las Vegas. Allegiant Electric is a full-service commercial and residential electrician and a solar contractor specializing in battery storage and electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.

Andrea has over 15 years’ experience partnering with companies on the strategic management of information and business intelligence. She is exceptionally skilled in forensic information analysis and enterprise management. Andrea has a bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in HR and Management Information Systems and a master’s degree with an emphasis in Management Information Systems from Santa Fe University of Art and Design. Andrea is the first in her family to earn an MBA. She achieved both degrees at the Santa Fe University of Art and Design.

She recently joined the board of the Lutheran Social Services, as the Vigils place significant importance on supporting the community. Andrea also completed the Small Business Administration’s Emerging Leaders program, the Cox Small Business Academy, and is a Business Networking International member. Andrea is also a licensed real estate broker and uses this certification to enhance her residential market knowledge. She is a proud graduate of the Latino Business Action Network series from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business. “The program was the best eight weeks, especially during times of COVID-19,” she shares. “I was able to refocus my energy and look inside my business for ways to provide even better service to our clients.”

Of her business partner and husband of 16 years, Andrea says he is the technical expert of the family. “Anthony has vast experience in his chosen field.” His resume includes experience with local companies like Berg Electric and Helix Electric, and he was a member of IBEW local 357. “He really is a hard-working person,” Andrea shares. “Even if the whole team is out in the field on service calls, Anthony puts on his toolbelt and is there to be a leader to our team.” She says she cannot imagine creating a successful business with anyone else.

And running the business is indeed a family affair. Anthony and Andrea’s daughter Aaliyah has become a fixture at the company’s office since the pandemic began. Known for telling employees on a break to “get back to work,” this eight-year-old has a brave spirit and continues to learn about being an entrepreneur. Her mom guesses that she will probably grow up to be a project manager. “I am proud of the business we have created and am so grateful to be able to set this example for our daughter.”

As founders of Allegiant Electric, the Vigils have created a customer-centric service business with hundreds of happy customers in both commercial and residential markets. Through drive, dedication, and perseverance, both Anthony and Andrea have established a robust and growing business to gain a solid foothold in the industry.
